Spring's Annotation Support is very convenient for Controllers. It would be nice if similar functionality could be leveraged for WebFilter. For example, it would be nice if an annotated WebFilter could leverage features like argument resolving, type conversion, etc. Perhaps this would be implemented with an WebFilterAdapter which converts from the standard interface into invoking arbitrary methods.

Rob Winch still interested in this? My take is, while technically feasible, filters are few and far between in number compared to controllers, so certainly that would bring much less value.
