I'm working on Centos6 which has gcc-4.4.7 and I would like to use Redis 6.0.5. Is there any possibility that I can make Redis work as it is currently failing for c11 because it is not available / supported in gcc-4.4.7. If anyone can help me on this without the need of installing additional packages, that would be of great help.

Not sure if it would work on Centos 6, but you can try the solution suggested here for Centos 7 https://github.com/redis/redis/issues/7509 Please post your findings.

Update: The core team have decided to step back from the C11 requirement. We see it causes pain to many, and we feel that the value (in code clarity) is not worth the pain, and that it was too early for Redis to depend on it. We'll reconsider it again in the future. This ticket is closed, and the task will be tracked in #7509.
