scenario

We want to use AOF only and the AOF uses RDB preamble: followings are the partical configurations:

appendonly yes
appendfsync everysec
aof-use-rdb-preamble yes

save 900 1
save 300 1
save 60 1000

questions

  1. Is it needed to comment the above RDB related congurations as bellows: # save 900 1 # save 300 1 # save 60 1000
  2. If we leave the above RDB related congurations as there, will the persistency have RDB and AOF (two persistency files: dump.rdb and appendonly.aof)? Do the two persistency files in differnt child process and have no cooperations?

Thanks in advance. Simon

RDB and AOF are two different and independent persistence mechanisms supported by redis. They are controlled by independent configuration parameters, and they will not affect each other. The RDB-preamble refers to the preamble of the RDB format in the AOF file, this still belongs to the category of AOF persistence mechanism, which needs to be distinguished from the RDB persistence.
