Spring Security Java Config hellojs Sample Login Fails

Describe the bug

When attempting to log in to the Java Config hellojs sample, it fails with a message:

There is no PasswordEncoder mapped for the id “null”

To Reproduce

Start the JavaConfig hellojs sample and attempt a login of user/password.
