Spring Cloud Config Add the possibility to use GitHub access token

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. Right now to authenticate a Git repo you have 2 solutions: - user/password authentication what is not a great idea - SSH key what is good but quite hard to handle

GitHub access tokens are made for this exact purpose.

Good tip. I tried but it gives me NPE. I guess it needs some modification to accept a token as the first StackOverflow solution shows. Could you check that only I have this problem?

EDIT: I checked the code and my first humble guess is to create in the "GitCredentialsProviderFactory" a new else if condition to check if only a username given and no password.

**Solved!** 
Sorry for wasting your time. What solved for me:
- Switched to YAML from properties (somehow with properties it didn't work)
- username: token + password: "" (Empty string needed because it will throw an NPE on absence)
- HTTPS URL needed, git won't work.

Could you please write a few lines about this in the documentation? I didn't find anything about this on the internet.

Sure! So I debugged why it throws an NPE and it was pretty straightforward:
```java
else if (hasText(username)) {
    this.logger.debug("Constructing UsernamePasswordCredentialsProvider for URI " + uri);
    provider = new UsernamePasswordCredentialsProvider(username, password.toCharArray());
}

This if not checks for the absence of the password but it will call a .toCharArray() on it. That means if I don't provide a password it will throw a NPE.

My proposal would be to divide this part into 2, 1, if hasText(username) and hasText(password) -> simple user/pass auth as it already there 2, if hasText(username) and isEmpty(password) -> token based auth -> no password call -> no need for empty string +1 create a new parameter called token and no need to reuse the username for 2 purpose.
