I suspect that you either have and old and incompatible version of hibernate-core on the classpath, or the jar file has become corrupted. If it's an incompatible version, you will have to update your pom.xml or build.gradle so that a compatible version is used. We recommend making use of Spring Boot's dependency management rather than specifying the version yourself. If the jar has become corrupted (this is more likely with Maven than Gradle), you should delete it from the build system's cache and rebuild your application.
