We have a few @Deprecated annotations with "since 2.7.0 for removal in 2.9.0". In reality we're not going to remove any 2.x APIs until 3.x so we should update the comments.

I've updated the deprecation messages for those that were due for removal in 2.9.0 (7e88daf2). We also have a number of APIs that were deprecated in 2.6 for removal in 2.8. I've left this issue open for now as we need to decide what to do with those as well.
