Spring Boot 3.1.4 (and 3.1.3) I tried all 3.1.x versions of the spring-boot-maven-plugin with the same hang. I have reverted the plugin version to 3.0.11 which works as it has in the past, creating the image. I have been using the same plugin configuration without issues with SB 2.7.x also.

Thanks for the report. We're not aware with any problems in this area. Without more information about the behaviour you're seeing, we won't be able to help. If you would like us to spend some more time investigating, please spend some time providing a complete yet minimal sample that reproduces the problem. You can share it with us by pushing it to a separate repository on GitHub or by zipping it up and attaching it to this issue.

Thanks, I will happily do this when I have more time available. From my perspective it is straightforward - image build hangs with every version on the 3.1 release train. I will have to continue with the workaround of reverting to 3.0.11 for now.

Unfortunately, if it were that straightforward we either would have caught the problem in our CI builds or, failing that, we would have heard about the problem from other users in the 4 months since 3.1.0 was released. I suspect there's something unusual about your configuration or environment that's causing the problem.
